Big Court Win

Tennessee Riverkeeper just secured a major legal victory that's forcing the EPA to reconsider outdated industrial water pollution standards. This could impact water quality regulations across the country. Check out their blog for the full story.

13 Active Legal Cases

The organization has a packed legal docket right now with cases across Tennessee and Alabama. They filed suit against Spring Hill in September and are going after Kingston Springs for racking up over 1,000 days of Clean Water Act violations along the Harpeth River—a river that sees heavy recreational use from kayakers, tubers, and swimmers.

There's good news on the settlement front. Lebanon finally dealt with their landfill problem by eliminating the contaminated discharge and connecting to their wastewater system. Monterey built a whole new sewage treatment plant to come into compliance, and Celina agreed to follow through on their consent orders.

Other cases are still moving through the courts, including two illegal dump sites in Nashville (the Barnes and Ray properties), the Sky Nashville development for stormwater runoff issues, and Chapel Hill for ongoing permit violations.

Looking for Volunteers

Tennessee Riverkeeper needs more volunteers for their outreach program, especially for events and concerts. Anyone interested can fill out the volunteer form or reach out to Brandon Hayes at Volunteer@TennesseeRiver.org.

Fighting Plastic Pollution

Their work with the Orion Amphitheater to tackle single-use plastic has been getting attention, including coverage from FOX Huntsville. They've also jumped on TikTok (@tennesseeriverkeeper) and are working with local creators like Huntsville Adventurer to spread the word about river protection.

15 Years Strong

Tennessee Riverkeeper protects drinking water for over 6.3 million people across the South. As they hit their 15-year milestone, they're asking for continued support to keep holding polluters accountable.
