HOW TO REDUCE MICROPLASTICS IN OUR BODIES

March 4, 2025 — By David Whiteside

Stop drinking bottled water! That is perhaps the easiest way to significantly reduce your microplastic intake.

Research reveals a massive amount of microplastics in bottled water: https://pirg.org/articles/does-bottled-water-contain-plastic-particles/

Ironically, people buy bottled water because they think it is safer and cleaner than tap water. But studies continue to show that you are paying to drink water poisoned with microplastics. Drinking bottled water creates unnecessary waste and supports a dirty industry that is ramping up the production and distribution of single-use plastics. Studies show there are far less microplastics in public tap water systems in the United States, especially those that have been filtered through reverse osmosis water treatment processes.

Recent studies have revealed there are enough microplastics in our brains to “make an entire spoon” https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/what-are-microplastics-harmful-to-humans-how-to-avoid.html

Other research found that humans ingest “the size and weight of a credit card” of microplastics every week” https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/31/us/microplastic-credit-card-per-week/index.html

We know microplastics are everywhere and we know that are are pervasive throughout our bodies from blood to organs. We know this is not good for humans and wildlife, we still do not know the extent of how bad they are for us.
