Advisories.png

The Alabama Department of Public Health has released its yearly fish consumption advisories for 2021.

The list is meant to indicate if contaminants in fish specific to certain areas may cause potential human health effects.

Waterkeepers Alabama has set up a toll-fee hotline that you can call at any time to hear your local advisories.

The hotline number is 844-219-RISK (7475). Press 8 for the Tennessee River.

What is a fish consumption advisory? A fish consumption advisory is a state-issued recommendation on places to limit (or avoid) consumption of certain fish species at specific locations along waterbodies in Alabama. Please note that activities such as swimming, boating, or catch-and-release fishing in waters that have fish consumption advisories are still considered to be safe.
